Wow AT&T

So… as most of you know, I have been having problems with my AT&T Uverse service. It’s been intermittently working for the past week of so.

I won’t bore you with all of the details, but today I go to the point where I actually scheduled a Time Warner installation for Monday even thought I had an AT&T tech scheduled to come to my house between 12pm and 4pm.

When the tech showed up, he was informed by one of the previous techs that had visited my house that the problem had finally been identified.

During a bad storm last week, a piece of hardware in their home office was damaged. Well, they have yet to have it fixed AND HAVE NO ETA FOR WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED.

To make a long story short, after lots of time spent on the phone complaining to AT&T, I have now racked up the following:

– Roughly $300 in credits to my account.

– An upgraded channel package and a reduced monthly cost for 1 year.

– 500 minutes added to my cell phone as I bitched about having to spend hours on the phone with their techs on my cell.

Credits and upgrades are great, but what are they worth if the services don’t work?!?!

So after talking with the tech, who was actually a really nice guy, we settled on the following plan:

1) Proceed with Time Warner installation (30 day money back guarantee, initial cost of $150 to me).

2) Leave AT&T gateway and hardware in place.

3) Monitor AT&T situation by monitoring gateway and calling tech.

4) When the AT&T services are finally restored to a consistent state, cancel Time Warner’s service and get my money back.

… not an ideal plan, but after they gave me so much crap for free, it’s kinda hard to leave. What can I say…
