Getting ready to leave…

Well… my week here in NYC is almost over. I am in the process of packing my things (taking a break at the moment), my boarding pass is ready to go, and the memorial today for my grandmother was really nice.

I think everyone that I had ever met from my father’s side of the family was there. There were also many that I had never met as well. Some people knew me, came up to talk to me, knew things ABOUT me, and I felt a little bad because I had NO idea who they were.

The words that the family had were heartfelt and sad at times. Some were short, some were long. My dad’s was especially good. My Aunt Marlene read an excerpt from a book by Deepak Chopra’s “Life After Death: The Burden of Proof“. I enjoyed this.

After all of the words were spoken, we all kind of hung around while people talked, shared storied and reminisced. I was happy I was there.

After the proceedings concluded, we left and stopped at Andrew’s diner for a bit to eat on the way home. As you can see from my food blog, I got a HUGE gyro platter. No fries… extra salad… yum!

Although it’s always a little sad to leave home, I am REALLY looking forward to getting home tomorrow. I miss Victoria SO much. I really can’t wait to see her.

I had better get back to packing…
